Summer 2008 Star Parties:
- July 4th, Tupper Lake Pavilion, Tupper Lake, NY (Map). Solar observing from 1:00 3:00 pm, as part of the Kiwanis Club's "Celebration of Youth '08"
- Little Wolf Beach, Tupper Lake, NY (Map). Friday evening observing begins at dusk on the following dates:
- July 18th
- August 1st, 15th (details below!), 29th
On August 15th, the APO will be hosting "Telescope Revival Night". Drag your old, rarely used telescope out of the closet and bring it down to the beach. APO members will be on hand to give instructions on how to set up your telescope and get the most out of it. They'll even offer advice and help in making repairs if needed. So come on down to Little Wolf Beach on August 15th this summer, even if you don't own a telescope.

| Summer 2008: The following two talks begin at 7:30 p.m. at the location specified, and are free and open to the public. |
- August 11: "The Perseid Meteor Shower". Everything you wanted to know about the meteor shower that peaks before dawn on August 12. Presented by Jeffrey Miller in the Flammer Theater at the WILD Center, Tupper Lake, NY, followed by guided tours of the night sky (weather permitting) by members of the Adirondack Public Observatory.
Jeff is an astronomer at St. Lawrence University, and a Trustee of the APO.

- August 31: "Biblical Astronomy". An historical perspective on Astronomy. Presented by Jan Wojcik at the Beth Joseph Synagogue, Tupper Lake NY.
Jan Wojcik is Professor of Humanities Emeritus at Clarkson University, Director of Clarkson's Reynolds Observatory, and a Trustee of the APO.

Fall 2008: The theme of these presentations is "Astronomy and the Environment". Slideshow presentations in the Flammer Theater at the WILD Center, Tupper Lake, NY will be followed by guided tours of the night sky (weather permitting) with telescopes, binoculars, and the eye; conducted by members of the Adirondack Public Observatory. All talks begin at 7:30 p.m. on successive Tuesday evenings, and are free and open to the public. |
- September 9: "Astronomy and Bird Watching: How Alike, What Heavenly Birds to Look For". Amateur science that looks up. Presented by Jan Wojcik.
