Ken Kremer and DiscoveryThe APO was proud to host Dr. Ken Kremer for two exciting talks during July 2012. The audience was enthralled with his presentation, and asked many questions of Dr. Kremer. Photos from his presentations can be found on our News page.

Dr. Kremer is a freelance science journalist, speaker, scientist and photographer whose articles, space exploration images and Mars mosaics have been widely published in magazines, books and websites including NASA, Astronomy Picture of the Day, ABC, NBC and Fox News, Scientific American, Astronomy, Aviation Week, Spaceflight Now, Astronomy Now, New Scientist, Planetary Society, NASA Watch, Popular Science, Space Quarterly, Universe Today and the covers of Aviation Week & Space Technology, Spaceflight and the Explorers Club magazines. His mosaic of Opportunity at a Martian crater was selected as one of the 100 best Space images of 2011 by Astronomy magazine. Dr. Ken Kremer and Atlantis STS-135Dr. Kremer has presented at numerous educational institutions, civic and religious organizations, museums and astronomy clubs including the National Air & Space Museum, Princeton University, Explorers Club, the Franklin Institute Science Museum and the NorthEast Astronomy Forum. Dr. Kremer aims to educate and excite kids and adults about science and space exploration. He has reported first hand from the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral and lectures on both Human and Robotic spaceflight.

  • "8 Years of Mars Rovers and the Search for Life – Mars & Vesta in 3-D"
  • Mars in 3-DWitness the ongoing 8-year NASA Rover Mission to Mars and what's ahead with the imminent landing of the new Curiosity rover beside a huge Martian Mountain. This interactive program covers the explorations and adventures of Spirit and Opportunity as these amazing robots have journeyed many miles across the surface of the Red Planet. This comprehensive talk includes the latest news from Mars, the Moon and Vesta, and Dr. Kremer's eyewitness launch perspective, and widely published and custom created Mars mosaics. Spectacular 3-D images place you "On Mars" and "Circling Asteroid Vesta". Dr. Kremer will also briefly discuss the historic SpaceX launch, the arrival of Space Shuttle Enterprise in NYC and the new unveiling of Lockheed Martin's Orion manned capsule at the Kennedy Space Center (Dr. Kremer has written an articles on Universe Today about the unveiling of Orion and NASA's Dawn mission to Asteroid Vesta).

  • "Twin Robots and Curiosity Exploring Mars (in 3-D)"Mars in 3-D
  • A special interactive program for kids of all ages about NASA's trio of Martian robots: Spirit, Opportunity and Curiosity, and the dynamic duo of GRAIL Lunar orbiters – Ebb and Flow – all named by America's Youth. Eye popping 3-D images place you "On Mars". Dr. Kremer will also show a dramatic action-packed video of Curiosity's nail biting landing inside a Martian crater. And, there will be an Orion Spacecraft Model building activity, using a model donated by Lockheed Martin.

    Dr. Kremer will have a selection of his Shuttle, Space Exploration, SpaceX and Mars images for sale as postcards and frameable prints.
